A transparent layer over the paint
Paint protection film is a transparent film applied over painted exterior surfaces. It sits on top of the factory finish and is intended to take contact that would otherwise reach the paint directly.
Because the film is applied to the paint, the condition of the paint underneath matters. Film follows the surface it is installed on.
Where it is commonly applied
Coverage is usually described in areas rather than a single option: front-facing panels, wider front coverage, or full exterior coverage. The right choice depends on how the vehicle is used.
What to confirm before installation
Ask which film is being used, how edges will be handled, and what preparation is included. These details define the outcome more than any marketing claim.
